Herbal medicine
program pursued
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The provincial government is pursing the herbal medicine program called “Go Herbal, Negros Oriental”, a brainchild of the late Gov. Emilio Macias II, who was a doctor by profession.

Gov. Roel Degamo, who continued the program, came up with a compilation of herbal medicines and a manual to guide Negrenses on the proper use of herbs, herbal drug preparations and concoctions, common ailments and their herbal treatments.

He said the rising cost of medicines prompted him and the Provincial Agriculturist Office to make available a manual that will make it easier for the people to produce medicines using various herbs.

The PAO, headed by Greg Paltinca, is being encouraged to find alternative solutions to the high cost of medicines, through the use of herbs.*JG
