3 new paravet-monitors to
check on animal project

The Provincial Veterinary Office in Negros Occidental contracted three more pastor-paraveterinarians to act as monitoring officers to provide technical assistance to the animal dispersal project of the province.

Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Renante Decena yesterday said they now have nine monitoring officers assigned to six districts who will provide animal health extensions services.

The nine paravets are Noli Dequinia and John Sebua (1st district), Albert Jusayan (2nd district), Rosvie Pahilagao (3rd district), Asael Diamante (4th district), Josue Salido and Manolo Panaguiton (5th district), and Mateo Señeres and Jonathan Barroca (6th district).

Decena also said that they will monitor all beneficiaries on how they manage the animals, administer the production of organic chicken, and supervise the repayment of farm animals dispersed to the recipients.

He said the pastor-paravets assist them in the implementation of animal health extension services of the PVO, but they need more persons to conduct PVO services since they have increased the number of recipients under the dispersal program.

Catheryn Narez, livestock coordinator, yesterday said the monitoring officers each receive ready-to-breed gilts and 16 layers as their additional compensation aside from the monthly stipend they receive as job orders of the province.

Meanwhile, PVO turned over farm animals to the Alpha and Charlie companies of the 11th Infantry Battalion based in Moises Padilla and Himamaylan recently, Narez said.

Alpha Company led by First Lt. John Ryan Gomez received 400 kabir chicks and 20 piglets while the Charlie Company led by Lt. Jimrhic Obias received 10 heads of gilts, she added.*LTG
