Man arrested for
unlicensed gun

Siaton town policemen and soldiers of the 79th Infantry Battalion in Negros Oriental, nabbed a man for alleged illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, recently.

Insp. Cresente Gurrea, Siaton police chief, said investigation showed that the suspect, Agaton Janiela Jr., 36, married, and a resident of Sitio Lapay, Barangay Tayak, Siaton, was arrested for possession of a homemade shotgun with no serial number, one magazine with one live round of ammunition, and a bladed weapon.

He added that Janiela had previously been charged with murder, but the case was dismissed. He was convicted for illegal gun possession, but was able to serve on probation.

The suspect is now detained at the lockup cell of the Siaton police, and criminal charges will be filed against him for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, Gurrea said.*JFP
