An occasion for thanks

A thanksgiving mass was celebrated recently by Fr. Jude Serfino at the Bacolod Cathedral during his birthday, with fellow priests, family, relatives and friends in attendance.

In his homily, Fr. Jude said that celebrating his birthday is an occasion to thank those who have been supportive of his ministry as a priest; to return to the people who have, in one way or another, been constantly guiding, caring and loving him, whether near or far; and to appreciate God’s continuous blessings, especially the gifts of life and the priesthood.

After the mass, a sumptuous dinner was served at the St. John Vianney Hall, located at the 2nd Floor at the side of the Shrine. “Shades of summer” was the motif of the party that was attended by about 150 guests.

His mom, brother, sister and sister-in-law stayed for his birthday before going back to the States.

It was a well-attended celebration, and Fr. Jude was busy welcoming visitors and co-priests from the churches in Bacolod, Silay and Victorias. Timely music added to the joyous occasion, which everyone enjoyed. To dear Fr. Jude, I pray for more birthdays to celebrate, and for God to bless you, always.
