GSIS educ’l assistance
runs until December 28

MANILA – President and general manager Robert Vergara yesterday said of the Government Services Insurance System educational assistance program of his office will run until December 28 this year to help members meet the education expenses of their children up to the second semester of the school year.

On Wednesday, the GSIS launched its educational assistance program following the President’s Labor Day announcement on the availability of a joint P11.2 billion Educational Assistance Fund from SSS and GSIS.

Under the GSIS assistance program, all active members of the pension fund, regardless of salary grade, are entitled to P4,000, payable in five years at six percent interest rate.

The monthly payment is only P20, through salary deduction.

The first payment of the loan will start three months after the grant.

The pension fund will not require electronic certification from the employer nor charge any service fee. “This means that members will get the full loan amount,” Vergara said.

Members may file their applications through any GSIS office; designated agency liaison officer; and the GSIS website, www.gsis.gov.ph, where the forms can be downloaded.

For any inquiry about the program, members may call the GSIS hotline at 479-3645 or visit the nearest GSIS office.*PNA
