‘Police determining if jai alai
operator was target of shooting’

The Bacolod City Police Special Operations Task Group said yesterday it is still investigating the report that an alleged jai alai operator was the target of the unidentified man, who opened fire near an eatery at Hilado Street, in the city, at around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Supt. Santiago Rapiz, Task Group head, said they cannot confirm the report yet as the case is still under investigation.

Witnesses told the police that the unidentified driver of a grey Adventure SUV parked near the eatery and fired his gun five times. No one was hurt in the incident.

Rapiz said they are still gathering evidences and are looking for more witnesses to identify the gunman and determine the motive for the shooting.

Station 2 policemen failed to catch up with the SUV after the shooting, and were not able to ask for assistance from the nearby Police Station 4 because their new patrol car has no communication equipment.

Station 5 policemen also launched a massive search, following reports that the SUV was speeding toward Brgy. Granada, but failed to intercept the vehicle, police records show.*APN
