SIFI training conducted

Training in cosmetology was recently conducted by Sugar Industry Foundation Inc. at the SIFI Training Center in partnership with Victory Business College in Bacolod City.

The trainees were 24 sugar workers and dependents of sugar worker from Talisay, Silay, E.B. Magalona, Bago and Murcia areas.

More than half of them were mothers while some were out-of-school youth and a small portion college students, a SIFI press release said.

The one-week course was aimed at providing the sugar workers and their dependents with an alternative source of income during the sugar industry’s “Dead Season” that begins in April and stretches until August or September.

The graduates received manicure/pedicure sets that will serve as their start-up kit for doing business in their respective communities.

They were also given Certificates of Completion by SIFI and Victory Business College, whose trainers led the initiative, the press release said.*
