1st Governor’s Cup inter-town
basketball tournament opens

Fifteen teams from three districts are participating in the 1st Governor’s Cup inter-town basketball tournament that opened at the Basay Gymnasium in Basay, Negros Oriental, Friday.

The teams came from Vallehermoso, Tayasan, and Manjuyod, of the 1st District; Mabinay, San Jose and Amlan, 2nd District; and Basay, Siaton, Zamboanguita, Dauin, and Valencia, 3rd District, records of the organizer said.

Teams from Guihulngan, Tanjay, Dumaguete and Bayawan, meanwhile, are competing for the city category of the tournament, with the Dumaguete elimination held May 6 at the Lamberto Macias Sports Center.

The first district elimination will be conducted today at the Vallehermoso Gymnasium between the teams of Vallehermoso and Manjuyod; while the second district elimination will be San Jose against Mabinay, at the San Jose Gym tomorrow.

The Governor’s Cup is in preparation for the Philippine National Games that will be hosted by Dumaguete and Negros Oriental from May 26 to June 3.*RG
