President Benigno Aquino IlI is endorsing the candidacy of Binalbagan Mayor Alejandro Mirasol for congressman of the fifth district of Negros Occidental, Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District), LP Negros chairman, said yesterday.

A special congressional election is set in the fifth district on June 2 following the death of Rep. Ignacio Arroyo Jr.

Mirasol, a former member of the Nationalist People’s Coalition, Saturday took his oath as LP member in the presence of the president at Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City.

Mirasol said he, along with his vice mayor and councilors, have joined the LP .

He started out in 1988 as a member of the LP but the party disappeared for sometime, Mirasol said.

Mirasol’s nephew, Board Member Emilio Yulo III, has announced that he is also running for the fifth congressional seat.*CPG
