About P7.5 million in jewelry that was reportedly stolen by a faith healer from a resident of Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City, last month were recovered in successive operations conducted by the City Police Investigation and Detective Management Branch in Valladolid town and in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, Saturday.
Armed with a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 47Judge Edgar Garvilles, IDMB operatives led by Chief Insp. Ulysses Ortiz and Valladolid policemen led by Insp. Anthony Burgos swooped down the residence of Vivencia Alingalan, “alias Bebing”, 55, in Brgy. Palaka in the town at about 10 a.m.
Ortiz said they searched Alingalan’s house and recovered the suspected stolen jewelry valued at about P4.4 million. They asked the suspect where the rest of the jewelry was and she said she left them with someone in Talisay City, he added.
IDMB operatives went to Talisay City and recovered the rest of the jewelry, valued at P3.5 million, at about 2 p.m., police records showed
Ortiz told the DAILY STAR that the complainant, whom he did not name, sought the help of IDMB last week claiming that Alingalan took jewelry from her house last month.
Ortiz said Alingalan was introduced to the victim earlier this year in Valladolid and she invited her to visit her house.
Alingalan will face theft charges, and the recovered jewelry are in the custody of IDMB.*APN back
