Taxi driver stabbed, robbed
of P1,400 cash collection

A taxi driver was stabbed and robbed of his cash collection by one of his passengers at about 11:35 p.m. Sunday in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, and was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

Efren Villanueva, 38, of Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City, and employed by Morning Star taxi told the police that the suspects flagged down his vehicle past 11 p.m. at the junction of Libertad and Lacson Streets in the city and asked him to bring them to Talisay.

Villanueva said that when they reached Hacienda Aida in Brgy. Zone 15, one of the suspects took out his knife and declared a hold-up. He said the suspects took his P1,400 cash collection, stabbed him on the chest, alighted from the taxi and fled.

Villanueva added that he chased the suspects with his taxi and even attempted to bump one of them but failed.

Villanueva was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, but was later released as his wound was not fatal. The case is now being investigation by the Talisay City police.

James Buhay, of Brgy. Taculing in Bacolod City, was also rushed to the CLMMRH after an unidentified man stabbed him on his left side at a benefit dance in Brgy. Alijis, this city, at about 3 a.m. yesterday.

Bacolod Station 7 commander, Chief Insp. Levy Pangue said they are still working on the motive for the stabbing.*APN

Seaman, 3 others
hurt in mishap

A seaman and his three companions were injured when his sports utility vehicle fell into a roadside canal in Brgy. Pahanocoy, Bacolod City, at about 5 a.m. Sunday.

Injured were seaman Niel Ian Flores, 26 and Nikki Flores, 21, both of Brgy, Villamonte, and Ella Mae Damasco, 21, of Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City, and Bianca Cheung, 21, of Victorias City, Negros Occidental, Senior Police Officer 1 Joey Mira, traffic investigator, said.

They were rushed to the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital but were released later as they sustained only minor injuries.

Investigation showed that the Toyota Hi-lux driven by Niel Ian Flores avoid an approaching vehicle at Araneta Street in front of Maville Royale Subdivision, and swerved to the right portion of the road, before falling into a shallow roadside canal.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle driver and his passenger were hurt in what had appeared to be a hit-and-run accident at Rizal-Lacson Streets, Bacolod City, at about 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

The victims were Humprey Dave Olinares, 26 of Canetown Subdivision in Victorias City, Negros Occidental, and Roxaine Aguro, 20, of Regent Pearl Homes in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod, Police Officer 2 Wilson Go, traffic investigator, said.

Go said the motorcycle driven by Olinares collided with a Honda CRV, driven by an unidentified man, who sped off from the scene of the incident.

Olinares was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital while Aguro was rushed to the Bacolod Doctors Hospital.*APN
