awaits gold medalists

LINGAYEN, PANGASINAN – Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo G. Marañon, Jr., is set to give cash incentives for Western Visayas athletes who won medals, individually or by team in the ongoing 2012 Palarong Pambansa at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center here.

Marañon disclosed this after a luncheon at Sison Auditorium offered by Pangasinan provincial government headed by Governor Amado Espino, Jr.,

Marañon added this is regardless where provinces they belong as long they were part of the Western Visayas contingent, the cash incentives will go to them. Western Visayas is composed of the provinces of Antique, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, Guimaras and Negros Occidental.

NCR dominates gymnastics

National Capital Region started its bid to retain the overall title yesterday with a strong finish in gymnastics with four gold medals, two each in the secondary and elementary divisions of the 2012 Palarong Pambansa at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center in Lingayen, Pangasinan.

Martoni Abana captured the gold in individual all-around performance and teamed up with silver medalist Jun Gwynn and bronze medalist Christopher Villanueva to give NCR the team championship in gymnastics.

Southern Tagalog seized the silver in the gymnastics team competition, followed by Central Luzon which bagged the silver.

Singles bowlfest starts tonight

Games in the AIM Fitness Gym-organized “Singles Bowling Tournament” will start at 6 p.m. today at the Super Bowling Lanes of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.

The two-game single competition is open to all non-rated players and enthusiasts in Bacolod City.

Cash prizes await the top three winners.

Entry fee is P200.

Meanwhile, the Sharp sponsored Open Trio Bowling Championship will open Friday at the New Top’s Millennium Plaza Alley in Bacolod City.
