2 stabbed dead
by neighbors

Two men were stabbed dead by their neighbors in Calatrava town and in Silay City, Negros Occidental, Sunday.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office records identified the fatalities as Generoso Bendale-an, 58, of Hacienda Hinicayan in Brgy. E. Lopez, Silay; and Rolando Sario, 40, of Brgy. Bantayanon, Calatrava.

Sario died on the spot after he was stabbed by his neighbor, Rex Lumanog, 24, allegedly over a misunderstanding, at about 7:45 p.m. Sunday, the police said. He succumbed to stab wounds on his chest, left arm and stomach.

Lumanog surrendered to the Calatrava police and endorsed the 24-inch long bladed weapon that he reportedly used in stabbing Sario, the police added.

Meanwhile, a personal grudge is being eyed as the motive for the stabbing of Bendale-an, a hacienda worker, by his neighbor, whom the police identified as Rey Clarito, 35, at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Bendale-an sustained multiple stab wounds and was rushed to the Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City but died while being treated at about 1:15 a.m. Monday.

Clarito evaded arrest and the bladed weapon he allegedly used in stabbing Bendale-an was not recovered, the police records show.

A teenager, on the other hand, is now being treated at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, after his neighbor also stabbed him at the public plaza of San Enrique town, Negros Occidental, at about 1 a.m. Monday.

Police identified the victim as Joemarie Fuentispina, 19, of Candelaria Street in Brgy. Poblacion, San Enrique, who sustained stab wounds on his chest and back.

The San Enrique policemen are still working on the motive for the stabbing of Fuentispina by the suspect, identified as Warren Sanchez, 20, who evaded arrest.*APN

Assault raps filed vs. rallyist

Charges for direct assault of an agent or person in authority were filed yesterday before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, against the spokesperson of a militant organization, who allegedly attacked a policeman during a protest rally against President Benigno Aquino III, in Talisay City, Saturday.

Senior Supt. Allan Guisihan, director of the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office, said the charges were filed against Christian Tuayon, of the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan-Negros.

Guisihan said the policemen exercised maximum tolerance while preventing the protesters from coming near the Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City, where Aquino was attending the oath-taking of the new members of the Liberal Party.

Tuayon’s action of hitting a policeman, who was not identified, was too much, Guisihan said.

Tuayon told the DAILY STAR he welcomes the charges, but emphasized that he only retaliated as the policeman hit his companion, Iver Larit, with a shield during their dispersal.

He added that they are planning to file countercharges because what the police did was exaggerated, considering that the militant group was only pressing for its legitimate demands.*APN
