Those who bought jewelry from a faith healer who allegedly stole them from a widow in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City, may also be charged under the anti-fencing law if they do not cooperate, City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, said yesterday.
De la Paz said they filed theft charges against the faith healer, Vivencia Alingalan, 55, of Brgy. Palaka in Valladolid town, Negros Occidental, before the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office yesterday.
Alingalan was arrested at her residence Saturday by the team led by Investigation and Detection Management Branch head Chief Insp. Ulysses Ortiz on the complaints of a retired teacher, who claimed that Alingalan stole her jewelry valued at P11 million in March this year.
However, out of the P11 million stolen jewelry, only P7.9 million was recovered and the P3 million is yet to be accounted for, De la Paz said.
De la Paz reiterated his warning to the public not to trust people they just met to avoid being fooled.
As of yesterday, no other complainants have surfaced against Alingalan, but Ortiz said they are still appealing to other possible witnesses or victims to come out and file additional charges.
Alingalan is now detained at the lock-up cell of Station 8 in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City.*APN back
