Army chief of staff Brig. Gen. Maximo Caro, a former commanding officer of the 303rd Infantry Brigade commander in Negros Occidental, was among the 28 senior military officials, promoted recently, military records show.
Caro, now a major general, yesterday took his oath before President Benigno Aquino III at Malacanang, with AFP chief of staff Jessie Dellosa, who is now a full-pledged general.
Before his present position as Army chief of staff, Caro was assigned in Negros Occidental for almost two years, until his transfer to the Philippine Military Academy as commandant of cadets, where he was promoted to brigadier general.
Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin witnessed Dellosa’s oath-taking and those of the group of the newly-appointed generals and flag officers.
Also present were Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo and Presidential Political Adviser Ronald Llamas, among others.
In a statement, Dellosa said, “Today I did not only raise my hand and read the words written in the oath but together with the 28 other AFP officials, I made a pledge to more than 90 million Filipinos to continue our commitment of maintaining a peaceful and stable nation as dedicated officers and professional soldiers.”*GPB back
