Sta. Fe turns 62

Sta. Fe Resort recently celebrated its 62 nd year of serving Bacoleños and nearby cities and towns of Negros Occidental. As far as I can remember, it is the first resort within Bacolod built by the late Don Gener Villanueva and family.

The three-day celebration was filled with various activities like cockfighting and games on May 4; a rummage sale the following day, and the blessing of the new building “Casa Alicia” in honor of the late Alicia Villanueva Sitchon, mother of Daday and Benggay Sitchon, on May 6.

Fr. Armando Onion, parish priest of Barangay Granada, blessed every nook and corner of Casa Alicia, while Vice Mayor Thaddy Sayson and Elenita Parreno Azcona of Sta. Fe Resort and Realty Corporation, cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Then off to the adjacent Cactus Hall for a delicious lunch prepared. All the Villanueva brothers were present together with their lovely wives. Mayor Bing Leonardia and Councilor Em Ang chatted with Ana Marie Isabel Villanueva, from New York, and Maria Lilia Vargas Villanueva of California, the balikbayan cousins of the Villanuevas; while at the side of the big pool, a swimming contest was sponsored by the host brothers.

What a restful and satisfying day.

Remember: Worshipping God should be a fulltime experience. God pours his love into our hearts to flow out to others.*

‘Appendix' at Capitana Gallery

The latest works of sculptor Noell EL Farol entitled “Appendix”, will be exhibited at the Capitana Gallery in the Balay ni Tana Dicang, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, starting today, a press release from the gallery said.

The show will feature 32 art pieces in massive blocks of steel, marble, sandstone, and works that have been formed by casting glass into sculptural pieces that are reminiscence of Farol's exhibitions in other countries like Japan and South Korea, the press release also said.

The artist has created several works since 1979 from his backgrounds in drafting, fine arts, and archeology; and has taken inspirations from other cultures, being a Monbusho scholar, the press release added.*
