SP backs Taguig sisterhood
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

A resolution expressing the sentiment of the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod in support of a sisterhood or twinning relationship between the cities of Taguig and Bacolod, was approved by the SP Wednesday.

The SP also approved another resolution establishing a sister city relation between the cities of Bacolod and Quezon.

The resolutions were authored by Councilors Homer Bais and Carlos Jose Lopez, respectively.

The resolution said Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, in a letter dated May 2, 2012, requested Bais to consider sponsoring a resolution to document the intention of Bacolod City and Taguig City, through Taguig Mayor La-arni Cayetano, on the proposed sisterhood relationship.

It said the cities of Taguig and Bacolod are highly urbanized cities and aim to promote and establish strong friendship, goodwill and special mutual understanding through a sisterhood/twinning relationship that will benefit both cities and enhance the well-being of their constituents.

The resolution said Taguig and Bacolod have remarkable achievements that impact on science and technology, culture and arts, tourism, urban planning and development, trade, commerce and industry, sports development, among others, that will enable the sister cities to complement each other.*CGS
