runner-up behind NCR

After one week of competition, the National Capital Region retained its overall championship title with 11 team titles in elementary and 13 in secondary division, while Western Visayas earned six team titles in elementary and five in the secondary to remain first runner-up in the 2012 Palarong Pambansa that ended Saturday in Lingayen, Pangasinan.

Western Visayas had the chance to earn more points in ball games as the elementary and secondary basketball boys’ team and high school girls squad, together with their teammates in volleyball and elementary football advanced to the semifinals, but only the basketball girls managed to advance to the championship round, and eventually, won the crown.

eyes crown tonight

After dumping Batch 2003/2004 Martha, 105-86, in Game 1, the BBC/Amazing ’09 squad hopes to end the best-of-three finals tonight the two teams clash once again for the title in the 4th University of St. La Salle /LNA7 Sports Foundation Basketball Tournament at the West Negros University Gym.

Friday night’s victory for BBC was anchored by Sammy Belangel, who scored 17 points, while Marco Avecilla tallied 16, six of them in the fourth quarter.

After trading baskets with Martha in the first half to settle for a three-point lead at halftime, 49-47, BBC pulled away in the third quarter as the squad registered a 23-14 run.
