Bacolod Basketball Club /Amazing ‘09 made sure there will be no third game in the best-of-three finals as the squad blew away Batch 2003/2004/Martha, 96-72, in Game 2 to capture the title in the 4th University of St. La Salle Alumni Association/LNA7 Sports Foundation Basketball Tournament at the West Negros University Gym, Monday night.

Dominating all four quarters of the game, BBC never gave Martha a chance to come near, starting with a 16-14 opening quarter lead with Direk Sibug scoring nine points and Nico Lopingco registering five points.

Martha tried to stay close with Donnie Aspero delivering six points and Mark Velez with four points, but BBC managed to post a two-point lead going into the second canto.

Without letup, BBC continued to score at their end, getting way with a 41-32 halftime lead as Marco Avecilla scored 11 points and Sammy Belangel with eight points.

Taking full control of the ballgame, BBC/Amazing ’09 pulled away in the third quarter with a 31-12 rally as Amit Teruel sizzled with three triples while Philip Abong and Fifi Sayson delivered with six points each. Loijie Lobrido nailed two three-pointers and Michael Espolon added five points for Batch 2003/2004.

BBC sealed their victoryi in the final quarter with a 36-point lead with still still 8:10 minutes left in the ballgame as Tony Agustin, Michael Regalado and Avecilla combined their efforts to foil Martha’s attempt to cut the lead.*NAB
