UNO-R advances to reg’l finals
in Coca Cola PBA Youngstars

The junior Rams from University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos stamped their class by beating the junior from Stingers University of St. La Salle-Integrated School, 70-42, in the finals Monday to advance to the regional finals of the 2012 Coca-Cola Youngstars at the West Negros University gym.

With Emmanuel Bernales tallying 17 points, the Gerome Aledron-mentored UnoRians grabbed the provincial crown, while relegating the La Sallians to first runner-up.

UNO-R took control of the game as early as the first quarter as the squad posted a seven-point lead at 14-7, with Patrick Dave Yulo scoring four points and Polo Miguel Lopingco with three points.

BBC/Amazing ’09 captures
USLS/LNA7 basketball title

Bacolod Basketball Club /Amazing ‘09 made sure there will be no third game in the best-of-three finals as the squad blew away Batch 2003/2004/Martha, 96-72, in Game 2 to capture the title in the 4th University of St. La Salle Alumni Association/LNA7 Sports Foundation Basketball Tournament at the West Negros University Gym, Monday night.

Dominating all four quarters of the game, BBC never gave Martha a chance to come near, starting with a 16-14 opening quarter lead with Direk Sibug scoring nine points and Nico Lopingco registering five points.

Martha tried to stay close with Donnie Aspero delivering six points and Mark Velez with four points, but BBC managed to post a two-point lead going into the second canto.
