Hunt intensified versus 2 men
in rape-rob of German national

The Bacolod City Police Office has intensified the hunt for the two remaining suspects in the reported rob-rape of a German national in Bacolod City last year, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, city police director, said yesterday.

De la Paz said they received information that suspects Joemar Agdana, 18, and Cresenciano Catague, 23, both of Tinagong Paraiso in Brgy. Banago, are no longer in Bacolod City.

Agdana and Catague have arrest warrants issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 42 Judge Fernando Elumba, who denied them bail, he added.

Their companion, Henry Bañez, 21, “alias J.R. Baba”, was apprehended at his residence in Purok Tinagong Paraiso about 5 p.m. Tuesday by members of the City Police Intelligence Branch, led by Supt. Leonardo Borromeo.

The victim, a volunteer of a non-government organization, told the police that she and her two companions were sleeping, when the suspects barged into their temporary residence, took turns raping her, then grabbed her necklace and her cellular phone before fleeing.*APN

Alleged rapist nabbed

A man wanted for rape for almost six years was finally apprehended by the Regional Intelligence Unit-6, at about 11:30 a.m. yesterday, at his residence in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

Police Officer 2 Joshua Barile of RIU-6 identified the suspect as Demcy Villasana, 32, of Brgy. 4, Himamaylan, who was nabbed by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 56 Judge Nilo Sarsaba, who denied him bail.

Investigation showed that the arrest warrant against Villasana, who arrived two weeks ago from Bohol province, stemmed from the rape charges filed in 2006 by his former house helper.

During police interrogation, Villasana, tagged as one of the most wanted personalities in Western Visayas, said he tried to evade arrest by hiding in Metro Manila, Cavite and Davao.

Barile told the DAILY STAR that the Department of Interior and Local Government had put up a P90,000 bounty for the arrest of Villasana.

The suspect is now detained at the Himamaylan City police lockup cell and waiting for his commitment to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.*APN

MBCCI turns over gas
coupons to BCPO

The Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry turned over gasoline coupons to the Bacolod City Police Office yesterday, as support to the Bacolod City Motorized Anti-Street Crimes Operatives.

The fuel coupons were turned over by Frank Carbon, MBCCI president, in behalf of the 2GO Group Inc., to Senior Supt. Ricardo dela Paz, BCPO director, in the presence of Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

Carbon said that every month, various companies in Bacolod contribute P5,000 worth of fuel to the police. “We believe that what is good for the citizenry is also good for business. If the police will keep our streets, schools, stores and offices safe 24 hours a day, that is good for the community,” he said.

Carbon said it is the 2GO, the company of Negros Navigation and Aboitiz, that provided fuel assistance to the police this month, the Central Negros Electric Cooperative next month, and the Lopue’s San Sebastian on July.

MBCCI provided fuel assistance to the police in November 2011; Pepsi Cola, December; the Coca-Cola Bottlers from January 7 to 13, 2012; SM City-Bacolod, January 25 to February 13; Merci Bakeshop, Feb. 13 to March; 888 Chinatown Square Mall, March to April; and SM City-Bacolod, April to May.*CGS
