The Philippine Economic Zone Authority is encouraging developers-operators of information technology projects in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental to register with them to avail of income tax holidays and the perpetual 5 percent gross income tax incentives particularly for new developments.
Emmanuel Cortero, department manager of PEZA Ecozone Development, said Wednesday in Bacolod City at the briefing on the establishment of economic zones with the Department of Trade and Industry at Planta Hotel.
He said new developments mean there is no physical construction yet and that they will have to infuse capital for the facility to be able to host PEZA locator-enterprises.

Task force formed to monitor
imported meat products: PVO
The Provincial Veterinary Office formed a task force that will inspect and monitor imported meat and meat products distributed in Negros Occidental due to their high influx that puts the local meat production at stake, Dr. Renante Decena, provincial veterinarian, said yesterday.
Decena said about 10 tons of imported meat and meat products that pass through Cebu International Airport are distributed in the province every month and this has caused the provincial government to worry.
It will also put the locally slaughtered meat at disadvantage because of the overflowing supply compounded by low demand, causing prices to drop, Decena also said.
