Police investigators are eyeing a truck driver and his helper as possible suspects in the brutal killing of a homosexual whose body was found with 21 stab wounds in a grassy area near the Bacolod City Real Estate Development Corp. port number 3, at about 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Station 2 chief, Senior Insp. Robert Dejucos, said yesterday that the victim, Eddie Saraet Bolatayo, 21, of Brgy. Canturay in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, and a temporary resident of Purok Pitaw in Brgy. 13, Bacolod, was identified by his elder brother Nelson yesterday at the ABES Funeral Homes.
Nelson, who works as a hamburger store employee, said he heard through the radio about the discovery of the body of a man whose description fitted that of his brother, the police said.
Nelson said although he and his brother have differences, what the suspects did was brutal, because they killed him like an “animal”.
The autopsy report conducted by City Medico Legal Officer Ely Cong, showed that the victim sustained 20 stab wounds on his body while his groin was pierced.
Dejucos said their investigation showed that the victim pimped a woman to the two suspects in exchange for P108, but the woman refused. The victim, who looks like a girl, then volunteered himself instead, he said.
Dejucos theorized that the suspects got mad when they learned that the victim was a homosexual, and not a real woman, prompting them to kill him.
With the recent killings of homosexuals in the city, Ang Ladlad, a group of lesbians, gays and bisexuals, has raised an alarm.
Pol Cabalfin, Ang Ladlad provincial coordinator, said the hate crimes against the LGB community should be stopped.
City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz stressed that there is nothing to worry about as the killing of Bolatayo was an isolated case and there are no groups in Bacolod out to kill gays.
De la Paz, however, advised gay people to be careful about those they pick up for dates.*APN back
