Vice mayor inspects
5 more gas stations

Bacolod Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson led a team that checked on the accuracy of the calibration of fuel pumps of five more gas stations in Bacolod City during an unannounced inspection yesterday.

The inspection was conducted pursuant to an Executive Order issued by Mayor Evelio Leonardia, a press release from City Hall said..

Sayson was accompanied by representatives of the Bureau of Fire, City Engineer’s Office, City Legal Office, City Treasurer’s Office, City Environment and Natural Resource Office, City Permits and Licensing Office, Land and Transportation Office, and Office of the Building Official, during the inspection yesterday morning.

The gasoline stations inspected were Caltex Gasolinahan Naton at Gatuslao-Burgos streets, Filoil (near SM) along Luzurriaga Street, E. Valencia Caltex Service Station at Rizal-Lacson streets., Shell PJL Rizal Gasoline Station along Rizal Street, and Petron Heng JI Commercial Corporation at Burgos-Locsin streets.

The calibrations of almost all of the pumps of gas stations inspected were found in order as variances were within the allowed limit of negative 50 ml., the release said.

Sayson said he was pleased that most of the gas pumps of the five gas stations inspected were properly calibrated, and he commend them for that.

However, a gas pump of Heng Ji dispensing Petron XCS gasoline was found with a minimal violation which will be attended to by the City Treasurer’s Office regarding penalty to mete, the release said. It also failed to present the business permit for its LPG sale business, although its manager said that the permit is being processed, it said.

Sayson reminded gas stations owners to regularly calibrate their gas pumps using their calibration buckets to ensure buyers that they get their money’s worth particularly with the increasing fuel prices.

“Fuel is one commodity one cannot do without everyday. Whatever the pump price is, one has to pay, without any allowed negotiation,” Sayson added.

He also reminded the gas stations to secure all the required permits and licenses on time to avoid penalties, the release added.*
