‘Kasalang Pilipino’ ongoing
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

A bridal roadshow dubbed “Kasalang Pilipino” is ongoing at Robinsons Place in Dumaguete City until Sunday.

With the theme “Beautiful Creations (Maanyag na Mugna)”, 36 bridal services will be showcased, aimed at introducing these businesses to the public, especially since weddings are becoming a big deal to everyone, Glynda Descuatan, Dumaguete leg organizer, said.

She added that various creations of designers, florists, stylists, makeup artists, caterers, photography and video shops, cakes and souvenir makers, have been gathered in one location to give would-be couples and the public the chance to learn and be informed on how to plan a wedding.

The event that started yesterday also features a bridal make-up and bouquet-making competitions, seminars about weddings, and a bridal fashion show at 5 p.m. today, at the mall.

The partner-cities of the road show also include General Santos, Dagupan, Pampanga, San Pablo, Davao, San Fernando, Zambales, and Cagayan de Oro, Descuatan said.

“Kasalang Pilipino” started in Dumaguete City in 2007. The town of Valencia, winner of last year’s booth competition, is showcasing the “garden wedding at Tierra Alta” with a floral concept.

Mayor Enrique Gonzalez has vowed to defend the title, that he said not only promotes Tierra Alta as a premier venue for garden weddings but also showcases the town’s products like the “sinamay” weaves and clothes, which are beautifully woven and worn by models during the event.

Valencia is also promoting its environment advocacy by converting recycled plastic wastes into doormats, centerpieces, floor mats and decors, that are on display at the booth.*JG
