Police tap NBI’s help
in brutal killing probe

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The Bacolod City police is seeking the help of the National Bureau of Investigation in coming up with facial sketches of the two suspects behind the brutal slay of a homosexual, whose body was found in a grassy portion of the city’s reclamation area Tuesday.

The facial sketches will hasten the arrest of the suspects in the killing of Eddie Saraet Bolatayo, 21, of Brgy. Canturay, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, Senior Supt. Ricardo de La Paz, Bacolod police director, said yesterday.

NBI Bacolod agent-in-charge Ferdinand Lavin said they are willing to assist the city police in the resolution of the crime.

Bolatauo, an alleged pimp, was lying on his back when found near the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. Port at about 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Based on an autopsy conducted by City Medico Legal Officer Ely Cong, Bolatayo sustained 20 stab wounds in different parts of his body while his groin was pierced.

Station 2 chief, Senior Insp. Robert Dejucos, said the suspects, a truck driver and his helper, got mad when they learned that the victim was a homosexual, and not a real woman, prompting them to kill him.

Bolatayo, who looks like a woman, reportedly volunteered to go with the suspects when the prostitute they approached refused.

De la Paz reiterated yesterday that the lesbian, bisexuals and gay communities in Bacolod should not be alarmed despite the spate of killings as these are isolated cases and these are not hate crimes.*APN
