Bacolod cleanup
drive continues

Officials and employees of the Bacolod City government conducted a cleanup drive at Carlos Hilado highway and at Burgos Street, from 6 to 9 a.m. on Saturday, a press release from the city said.

Moises de la Cruz, acting secretary to Mayor Evelio Leonardia, said the spirit of volunteerism was shown by the enthusiastic participation of those who joined in the cleanup. “They understand that their volunteer service does not only clean city streets but also inspires Bacoleños to do their share in maintaining the cleanliness of the city”, he added in the press release.

Personnel of the City Clean and Green Team, City Engineer’s Office, City Agriculture, and the Department of Public Service weeded out tall grasses near Bangga Cory; while employees of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office used spades to uproot weeds at Burgos Street.

Myrna Servando, overall chair of the Task Force Clean and Green, said she is hopeful that city officials and employees have still something to give for the continuous cleaning and greening of Bacolod, since they are inspired by the positive response of the Bacoleños to the cleanup activities, the press release added.*
