DAR covers 175,664
has. in Neg. Occ.
BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Department of Agrarian Reform has distributed 175,664 has. of land to 131,995 agrarian reform beneficiaries in Negros Occidental from 2008 up to April 2012, a DAR report showed yesterday.

We also expect to deliver 32,000 has. more in Negros Occidental for 2012, North Negros Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Enrique Paderes said.

To give a clearer picture on the status of all landholdings in Negros Occidental “Claim Folder Days” were recently held, to hasten the processing of claim folders subject for CARP coverage by way of Voluntary Offer to Sell or Compulsory Acquisition, he added.

The holding of “Claim Folders Days”, which is the brainchild of DAR Secretary Virgilio de los Reyes, provides us updates and improves the Land Distribution and Acquisition database, and determines the critical information of each landholding and its status, Paderes said.

Furthermore, strategies were adopted in order to hasten the LAD processes, continuous mass processing of claim folders is ongoing, he added.

This new system adopted can help unclog problems that hinders claim folder processing, he said

The DAR’s close coordination with other line agencies like the Land Registration Authority, Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Land Bank of the Philippines forms part of LAD, he added.*CPG
