Champu wins Game 1 in
YBAC’s final round

Champu moves a win away from clinching the championship as it beat Crismar, 87-79, in Game 1 of the best-of-three final series of the Your Basketball Athletic Club 2nd Conference Presidential Inter-Color Tournament at the West Negros University Gym.

Mario Reyes led Champu with 21 points, seven of them in the fourth quarter, while Edgard Gallo topscored for Crismar with 19 points.

Taking a 19-14 lead in the first quarter as Gallo scored nine points, Crismar was in control of the game until Champu stepped on the gas for a 24-16 rally with Soquiña delivering 11 points and Rolly Buenaflor with five points for a 38-35 halftime lead.

Tightening their defense in the third quarter, Champu remained ahead with a 14-point lead.

Crismar tried to stage a comeback in the final quarter with 33 points against Champu’s total output of 27 points, but the latter held on until the final buzzer to get away with the win.

In the battle for third place, Fiesta Gas beat Phoenix, 93-91, to grab the runner-up honors.

Mayo Salazar led Fiesta Gas with a game-high 49 points while Narciso Galang topscored for Phoenix with 31 points.*NAB
