The Bacolod City Public Employment Service Office has placed 2,814 workers in March, 2,730 of when were deployed locally and 84 overseas, Moises de la Cruz, PESO manager said yesterday.
De la Cruz said local employment was more in demand in the previous month and this has provided work opportunities for fresh graduates and skilled workers.
He said the low overseas deployment does not mean there are less jobs abroad, adding that recruitment companies are strict and are looking for job applicants who have skills and the right qualifications.
Among the overseas jobs filled were for registered nurses, welders, technicians, civil foremen, plumbers, engineers, service crew personnel, machine operators, waiters, electricians, machinists, and auto mechanics.
Overseas jobs were channeled through Career Planners, Perfect Employment, and East-West Recruitment Agency.
De la Cruz also said he hopes that employers and companies that joined Labor Day job fair on May 1 will contact qualified applicants and complete the process of the job hiring.
He also encouraged job seekers to visit their office at the 2nd Floor of the City Hall building at Araneta-Luzuriaga Streets for more local and overseas jobs. *LTG
