Binay speaker of
Bacolod 74th Charter Day

Vice President Jejomar Binay will be the guest of honor and speaker during the 74th Charter Day anniversary celebration of Bacolod City on June 18 at the Bacolod City Government Center.

The Bacolod City Government has also scheduled several activities for the celebration of the 114th Philippine Independence day on June 12, 2012.

Councilor EmLegaspi-Ang, chairman of the 2012 Charter Day celebration,said the activities will be held in different venues and there will be a carnival area behind the Government Center for ferris wheel, carousel, and caterpillar rides.

Other activities that cannot be accommodated on the stage fronting the fountain area of the government center will be held at the carnival area, she said.

On June 12,aprogram at the BAYS Center will be held in the morning after the wreath-laying for the unknown soldiers led by city officials. This will be followed by the opening of the trade fair and exhibits at the lobby of the government center while Bombo Radyo will sponsor the drum and bugle corps competition in the afternoon.

A Kasuotang Pilipino fashion parade of the Visayan Maritime Academy, Hip hop showdown by RMN Radyo Agong, and “banda-banda kag binayle sa NGC” will be held in the evening.

The Sangguniang Kabataan will hold the Hataw sa NGC on June 13, with sports activities, SK night, and Band –o- band by Pepsi Cola the whole day until evening.

On June 14,awhole day activity will be held for senior citizens/business entrepreneurs/trade sector sponsored by the City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office, Department of Trade and Department of Social Services and Development, followed by Hataw sa NGC, entrepreneurship training workshop, and cookfest byDel Monte, Magnolia, SM Food HRM/HM Fresh Start at the government center.

The employees day of the Bacolod City Government Employees Union will be held on June 15 starting with a mass at the government center lobby and followed by a parade, sports and cultural activities, while the Lin-ay/Ginoo sang BCGEU, GMA Kapuso Night, and band show by the Bacolod City Band, will be held in the evening.

Trade fair exhibits and Hataw sa NGC will continue on June 16, followed by a bridal fashion parade, and amorseko dance theater presentation of Tandu-ay and band show, in the evening.

A fun run/walk/bike from the capitol lagoon to the government center will be held on June 17, while the Banwahanon Awards Night at the Masskara Hall, Kaanyang dance company presentation at the government center stage, will be held in the evening.

A thanksgiving mass will be held on June 18 at the government center atrium during the celebration of the city’s Charter Day to be followed by a jobs fair, the Charter Day program at the government center lobby with Binay as guest speaker; and awarding of outstanding Bacolod City government employees, and outstanding tax payers.

A charter day parade, barangay dance festival showdown at Rizal Elementary School and arena competition at the Bacolod Public plaza will be held in the afternoon while the ABS-CBN Kapamilya night and pyrotechnics competition will be held at the government center in the evening.*CGS
