Prove innocence,
solons tell Corona

Chief Justice Renato Corona, who, his lawyer said, is appearing before the Senate Impeachment Court today, should prove his innocence with real evidence, Negros Occidental congressmen said yesterday.

The chief justice walked out on his impeachment hearing Tuesday claiming he had a hypoglycemic attack.

Defense lead counsel, former SC Associate Justice Serafin Cuevas, yesterday said Corona will appear at the Senate impeachment trial today, accompanied by his attending physician.moremoremore

Fire in Alijis kills
retired teacher

An unattended lighted candle is believed to have triggered fire at a residence in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City, at around 9 p.m. Wednesday that killed a retired teacher.

Arson investigator Senior Fire Officer 2 Harry Fernandez yesterday identified the casualty as Florenda Rios Lastimoso, 74, of Block 6 Lot 6 DC3 Regent Pearl Homes Subdivision in Brgy. Alijis and a retired teacher of the Domingo Lacson National High School.

Lastimoso was rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center where she died due to hypovelmic shock, secondary to severe burns, while being treated, Fernandez said.moremoremore

Raps filled vs. ‘killer ma’

The police yesterday filed two counts of parricide against a 24-year-old mother, who confessed to having killed her two minor children in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental before the Provincial Prosecutor’s of Negros Occidental.

The respondent was identified as Mira Lacson, who is now detained at the Hinigaran Police Jail.

Police Officer 3 Ma. Victorina Oychocde, chief of the Hinigaran police Women’s and Children Complaint Desk chief, said Lacson claimed to have drowned the two children, both girls, aged 1 and 3 years old, in a canal on May 21 in Sitio Da-at, Brgy. Calapi, Hinigaran.moremoremore
