Cops nab 8 in drug busts
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Eight persons were arrested in an illegal drug operation by the City Police’s Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group at about 11 a.m. yesterday in Purok Sigay, Brgy. 2, Bacolod City.

CAIDSTOG chief, Supt. Santiago Rapiz, said they were conducting a drug buy-bust operation against Mamer Diopita, “alias Little”, who handed a small sachet of suspected shabu in exchange for P500 to a police poseur buyer.

When Diopita sensed that she was dealing with a policeman, she ran towards her house and closed the door, prompting the CAIDSTOG members to forcibly open it. Diopita, however, was no longer there as she escaped by jumping one of the window, Rapiz said.

Her neighbor, Jennelyn Felizario, 27, who was at her house when the buy-bust occurred, was also arrested as the police recovered a plastic bag which contained P17, 600 in cash and three big sachets of suspected shabu all worth P50,000 from her, he added.

CAIDSTOG members also recovered P8, 073 in cash when they searched Diopita’s house, police records showed.

Rapiz said that they also entered the house of Mae Ray Jean “alias Bebing”, Diopita’s other neighbor, and found eight persons allegedly having a pot session.

Rapiz said James Padernilla Colinco, 40, of City Heights Subdivision and Christopher Salazar Purdente, 29, of Dona Juliana Subdivision, both in Brgy. Taculing, Fernando Catoto, 32, of Burgos-Lopez Jaena, Alfredo Toledo, 29, of Purok King Fisher in Brgy. 16, Cindy Torres, 38 and Jovy Dacumos, 29, of Brgy. 2, all of Bacolod City will be subjected to drug tests.

The arrested suspects are now detained at the Police Station 2 lock-up cell and at the Bacolod City Police detention cells. Diopita who evaded arrest, will be facing charges for violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165 or the Anti-Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 charges, the police said.*APN
