Army joins ‘Brigada Eskwela’

The 302nd Brigade of the Philippine Army has dispatched a battalion to assist the schools division of Tanjay City during the “Brigada Eskwela” project of the Department of Education, a press release from the military said.

The activity includes the repainting of the classrooms of Ilaud Elementary School in Tanjay, and a clean-up drive and repair of facilities of Malalangsi Elementary School in Pamplona, the press release said.

The “Brigada” that started May 22 and ends tomorrow, aims to prepare public elementary and high schools for class opening on June 4.

The Brigade will also utilize its line battalions like the CAFGUs and reservists to maximize the performance of service in their respective areas of operation. The activity is an endeavor to help the government save on resources, support the spirit of ‘bayanihan’, and promote volunteerism and unity, the press release said.

This year’s “Brigada Eskwela” was launched with a caravan participated in by representatives from the local government units, the Army, Philippine National Police, private sectors, local officials, Parents and Teachers Association and the district supervisors and teachers of Tanjay City Division, the press release added.*
