Azkals bow to
Global in shootout

The national men’s football team, Azkals, bowed to Global FC, 7-6, in a shootout last night during their last tune-up match at the Panaad Park and Stadium.

With both teams tied at 2-all after regulation, the match was decided in a shootout. Earlier, the national Under22 football team prevailed over Ceres FC, 2-0.

The series of tune-up games played by the Azkals in Bacolod City will be followed by another set of friendly matches against Malaysia on June 1 in Kuala Lumpur, against Indonesia on June 5 in Manila, and against Guam on June 12 at the Panaad pitch.

Celtics vs. Miami
in East finals

The Boston Celtics punched their ticket to the NBA Eastern Conference finals with an 85-75 victory over Philadelphia behind a "triple-double" by Rajon Rondo.

Rondo scored 18 points with 10 assists and 10 rebounds as the Celtics won the decisive game seven in the Eastern Conference second-round series.

The Celtics will have little time to relax. They will open the best-of-seven Eastern conference finals in Miami against the star-studded Heat on Tuesday, (Phil. time). That winner will face San Antonio or Oklahoma City in the NBA Finals.

Hole-in-one for Siem at
Wentworth PGA tilt

Germany's Marcel Siem holed in one at the second as he made up three shots on the leaders in two holes in the final round of the PGA Championship at Wentworth.

Siem, two-under par overnight and nine shots adrift of front runner Luke Donald, birdied the par-4 first before holing an 8-iron on the 160-yard par-3 second to move to five under the card.

The German's ace was the first hole-in-one at the championship since 2008 and the first at the second hole since Donald achieved the feat six years ago.
