The Public Employment Service Office of Bacolod City recently received the 2011 National Award for Outstanding PESO for the highly urbanized cities category from the Department of Labor and Employment, besting 33 other nominees, Moises de la Cruz, PESO manager said yesterday.
De la Cruz said Bacolod-PESO deployed more than 26,000 workers locally and 8,701 job seekers abroad.
He said this proves that Bacolod has more job placements compared to other highly urbanized cities like Cebu.
This will motivate them to conduct more special recruitment activities and job fairs that will bring in more job opportunities for Bacoleños and Negrenses, De la Cruz said.
He said Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia is supportive of the projects and programs of PESO and makes them more efficient in giving opportunities to job seekers.
PESO also hired 1,100 youths for the Special Program for the Employment of Students this summer whose task include surveys on skilled workers, job vacancies, and survey on the payment of mayor’s permit for businesses, he also said.
PESO also conducts skills trainings for out-of-school-youths and unemployed mothers, she said. He also asked all jobs seekers to visit PESO at the 2nd Floor of City Hall building at Araneta-Luzuriaga Streets and check out local jobs and overseas recruitment and encouraged fresh graduates to fill out the skills registry form and submit their resume at PESO for local and overseas job vacancies. *LTG
