Class B action heats up in
Fil-Sino basketball tilt

Organic Solutions slipped past Jast Enterprises, 69-68, while JSY Transport squeaked past JSY Countertrade, 84-83, in overtime in Class B of the 2012 Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 1st Conference Inter-Color Basketball Tournament at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Siopao Dichavez canned his front end of the free throw to shatter the deadlock with 1.1 seconds remaining for the JSY Transport victory.

Transport took a nine-point lead early in the fourth quarter but the quicker Countertrade players led by Jan Jan Guevarra, Berto Uysang and Mark Velez put their fastbreak attacks in high gear to cut the lead to a point, 71-70, with less than a minute left in regulation.

Sermona’s wife
shine in PNG

After Negrense Julius Sermona captured the gold in men’s 10,00-meter, it was his wife’s turn to make her mark as Loralie Sermona shattered the national record in women's hammer throw in the POC-PSC National Games in Dumaguete City

Loralie, 30, threw to a distance of 50.03m to improve the 49.79m standard which she herself set when she was still single in the 2007 Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.

Sermona, who is a bronze winner in last year's Southeast Asian Games in the same event, made the record-breaking throw on her third attempt using all the techniques she got from national coach Lerma Bulauitan.
