De la Paz up for promotion
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz yesterday admitted that he may be relieved anytime soon, not for being remiss in his duties, but because he will be promoted.

Text messages circulated last week stating that De la Paz will be relieved and transferred to Dumaguete City, although Police Regional Office-6 Human Resource Doctrine Development Division chief, Senior Supt. Celestino Guara, said that there was no relief order for De la Paz.

De la Paz said he has not received any communication from Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Cepriano Querol yet but added that he has accomplished his tasks and objectives in Bacolod.

Under his term, he said, the peace and order in Bacolod improved, sensational cases have been resolved, and the city police topped in Western Visayas as far as anti-illegal drugs and anti-illegal gambling campaigns where concerned.

De la Paz was chosen by Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia as permanent city police director in March last year, after he had been officer-in-charge for almost three months.

He replaced Guara who was injured in a car accident in January last year and his appointment as permanent city police director was approved by PRO-6 in August last year.*APN
