Himamaylan cop chief,
others get medals

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Five members of the Himamaylan City Police Station and Regional Intelligence Unit 6 of the Police Regional Office 6, were awarded the Medalya ng Kasanayan at the traditional flag rites Monday at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City.

Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol, regional police director, conferred the medals assisted by Chief Supt. Ernesto Tesoro, deputy regional director for Administration, on Supt. Antonietto Canete, Himamaylan police chief, Inspector Julio Torculas of the RIU 6, Police officers 3 Joshua T Barile and John Derrick Capunong.

The awarding was in connection with the arrest of Demcy Villasana, listed as the number 3 most-wanted person in Region 6, and a suspect in a rape case in Himamaylan City, in July 21, 2006.

Canete and several other members of the Himamaylan police were previously also awarded similar medals, for the arrest of a businessman in possession of high-powered firearms, police records shows.

Senior Inspector Sally Manuel, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office 6, said the PNP will continue to recognize its personnel who display exemplary performance in their duties and responsibilities to motivate them to deliver excellent police services to the community.* GPB
