Cagayan Rep. Jack Enrile said in a press release from Congress that Malacañang needs to show more results in its public-private partnership initiative, saying none of the projects lined up under the government's flagship program has broken ground since the start of the new administration in 2010.
Enrile said the government must work double time to get committed projects to the implementation stage soon, citing the growing public impatience over the slow pace of infrastructure development which the government seeks to undertake under its PPP program.
As of March 2012, 17 PPP projects are listed in the Public-Private Partnership Center website, including the extension of LRT Lines 1 and 2, construction of a new airport in Bohol, and the construction of the NLEX-SLEX connector road, among others.
"For a flagship project of an administration, the PPP appears rather slow in getting things done and achieving results for the people. The public expects more than commitments from various partners to undertake certain projects," Enrile said in the press release.*
