Catheryn Narez, provincial livestock coordinator, said yesterday that

they distributed 5,435 kabir chicks, 155 piglets, 24 gilts, and 20 sheep to identified beneficiaries who have the capacity to raise them.

The animal dispersal benefitted the towbns of Cauayan, Don Salvador Benedicto, Murcia, Valladolid, Pontevedra, Toboso, Candoni, Hinobaan, and the cities of Himamaylan and Talisay, she said.

She also stressed that this is not a dole-out project as the recipients will return to the province the same number of animals they received and they will be given certificates of ownership as proof of payment, she added.

Meanwhile, PVO is also encouraging all livestock raisers to buy sheep that is sold at P25,000 for males and P16,000 for females, she said.

Narez said the sheep are housed at the Negros First Ranch in Sta. Rosa Murcia and are in good condition and were quarantined after their arrival early this year. Interested buyers can call Corazon Galon of PVO for inquiries and reservations, she added.*LTG
