School supplies price
monitoring pushed

A resolution requesting the Department of Trade and Industry and the Price Monitoring Council through acting Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson to strictly monitor the prices of school supplies in preparation for the school opening in June, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod yesterday.

Authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito, the resolution said the City Government of Bacolod, in cooperation with the DTI, annually conducts price monitoring in stores to closely monitor the prices of school supplies and to prevent unscrupulous entrepreneurs from taking advantage of the opening of the classes by increasing prices of goods.

Due to the growing number of buyers of school supplies, small vendors and other sari-sari stores might try to sell school supplies at unreasonable prices, it said.

The resolution said parents and students should be protected from such unscrupulous act since most of them are indigent members of the community whose income is just enough for their needs.*CGS
