Five sachets of suspected shabu were recovered by Station 1 operatives from two men they arrested for alarm and scandal at the Bacolod City reclamation area at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Station 1 commander, Chief Insp. Adonis Rosales, identified those arrested as Antonio Depon, “alias Newton”, 23, and Christopher Cruz, “alias Estoy”, 26, both of Purok Kingfisher in Brgy. 16, Bacolod.

Rosales said Depon concealed a sachet of suspected shabu in a violet pouch while four other sachets of the banned substance were seized from Cruz.

Complainant Lanie Barios of Purok Malipayon in Brgy. 12, Bacolod, told the police that the two men, who were not wearing T-shirts, were shouting at the passersby and challenging them to a fight, at the reclamation area.

Police Officers 2 Rolly Jardinico and Jackson Genolos arrested the suspects, as they were about to leave the place on board a motorcycle.

Guard survives
slay attempt

The security guard of a bakery at the junction of San Juan Street and B.S Aquino Drive, Bacolod City, survived the slay attempt of three unidentified suspects, who shot him at his workplace, Tuesday.

Police Officer 1 Leomel Guinanao, case investigator, told the DAILY STAR that Giovanni Cajeran, 22, of Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, and employed by Rockman Security Agency, was in front of the Breadmasters bakery at about 8:30 p.m. when he noticed an unidentified man approaching the establishment.

When Cajeran asked the man to leave he refused and tried to box the guard’s face, prompting Cajeran to drag him. The man’s three unidentified companions, who were standing nearby, saw what happened and shot Cajeran, but missed, Guinanao said.

The guard tried to shoot the suspects with his 9-milimeter pistol but they were able to escape, so he called for police assistance, Guinanao added.

Station 2 chief, Senior Insp. Robert Dejucos, has ordered Guinanao to determine the identity of the suspects, who could be minors living near the bakery.*APN
