Cops nab woman for ‘kidnapping’
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A businesswoman, wanted for kidnapping charges for four years now, was arrested by joint operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Group, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the City Police’s Warrant and Subpoena Section at about 4 p.m. Tuesday in Brgy. Aguisan in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

WSS head, Senior Insp. Charles Gever said Gina Castor of Purok Masinadyahon in Brgy. 12, Bacolod City was apprehended on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Pasay City Regional Trial Court Judge Tinagaraan Guiling, who denied her bail.

Investigation showed that Castor, who is in the ready-to-wear business, was accused by her former lover, a woman, whose name was not disclosed, of kidnapping their adopted son, who is now 13-years-old, in Pasay City and brought him to Bacolod City in 2009.

Castor, however, said she did not kidnap their adopted son because the boy went with her voluntarily. She said she was surprised to learn of her arrest warrant because she did not receive any subpoena.

Castor added that the mother of the boy, a deaf-mute, gave the boy to her and her former live-in partner when he was still an infant.

Asked where the boy’s biological mother is, Castor said, she is already dead.

The police is also studying the possibility of filing charges for violation of Revised Penal Code number 347 or the simulation of birth against Castor and her former live-in partner because they manipulated the birth certificate of the boy, City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said.

De la Paz also ordered Women and Children’s Complaints Desk head, Insp. Jovy Cabcaban, to thoroughly investigate Castor because, aside from the boy, she also has a 3-year-old girl in her custody.

Castor said the girl was given to her sister, whose name was not disclosed, by their relative in Silay City. But when asked what the name of their relative was, Castor replied that she doesn’t know.

De la Paz said they still doubt the statements of Castor as to how she was able to have these children under her custody.

Castor has been brought to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Brgy. Handumanan.*APN
