Preparations up
for ‘plastics' law

Preparation for the actual implementation of City Ordinance No. 562 or the Plastic Regulation Ordinance on November 23 are all set and a technical working group has met twice already, Bacolod Councilor Em Legaspi-Ang said.

In a radio interview, Ang, the principal author of the ordinance, said they have prepared the specifics on how the ordinance will be implemented by the City Legal Office-Enforcement Unit and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office.

The suggestions raised by the business groups they have talked to will form part of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the ordinance, she said.

Ang said they anticipate that the implementation of the ordinance will bring a little inconvenience to the buyers, who have been used to plastics, especially if they forget to bring their reusable bags.

CLO Enforcement Team head Cesar Beloria, meanwhile, said they will conduct a massive information campaign to announce the implementation of the Plastic Regulation Ordinance and tap environmental groups and schools.*CGS
