RDC 6 has approved the conduct of the conference under RDC-VI Resolution No. VI-42, Series of 2012, as proposed by the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines chaired by Jocelle Batapa-Sigue in behalf of all the information and communications technology councils in the three Visayas regions, the press release said.

RDC 6 cited that Western Visayas has two cities (Bacolod and Iloilo) out of the top five next wave cities for Business Process Outsourcing, based on a joint study by Information and Communications Technology Office of the Department of Science and Techology and the Business Processing Association of the Philippines.

It said that the BPO industry in these cities bring in around P300 million to the local economy every month and employs 22,000 workers, earning an average monthly salary of P15,000, the press release said.

The said industry also generates more than a hundred thousand indirect jobs based on the study that showed that for every BPO worker, five other indirect employment opportunities are created, it added.

VICTOR, which will be hosted by the RDC-VI, will be participated in by representatives of the RDC and ICT councils of Regions VI, VII and VIII along with representatives from the business sector and major government agencies in the Visayas regions.
