Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia has included in the budget proposal for 2013 the granting of P7 million as anniversary bonus at P3,000 for each eligible employee, as the city turns 75 years old next year.
The anniversary bonus is a new personal expense in the proposed 2013 General Fund Budget .
Also included in the proposed budget of P1,230,000,000 is t he increase in the salary of the employees of the city.
Leonardia said the city will implement the fourth and last tranche of the Salary Standardization Law (SSL) III beginning January 2013.
With the full implementation of the law, the minimum monthly salary of city employees, starting January, is P9,000 as against P6,862 way back in 2010, he said..
With the average funding of P40 million per annum, SSL III will cost the city P160 million in four years, before the national government introduces again another law for the salary increase, he added.
Leonardia said the proposed executive budget is P105 million or 9.33 percent higher than this year's budget of P1.125 billion or a per capita of P2,284 based on a projected population of 538,528 for 2013.
The Committee on Finance and Appropriations will conduct marathon hearings on the proposed budget for 2013 after it was approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod on first reading last week.*CGS
