Tay Tung tracksters
to join Ateneo team

Six senior members of the Bacolod Tay Tung High School athletics team, who will complete their secondary education in March next year, were tapped by the Ateneo de Manila University to join their varsity squad.

Tay Tung athletics coach Amado Joguan said Miguel Guevarra, Roland Malate, Hannah Kristia Malate, Shaira Hernandez, Rhandonn Aga, and Joebe Panhilason Jr., will join the Ateneo team after they comply with all the requirements set by the school.

The Malate siblings, children of the late BTTHS athletics coach and police officer Rolando Malate, along with Aga and Panhilason have already taken the Ateneo entrance exam, while Guevarra and Hernandez will take the test in January 2013, Joguan said.

Joshbianc, Jaltas win in
YBAC basketball

Defending champion Joshbianc Motors registered another win against Robinhood Commercial, 86-73, while Jaltas Marketing/Consuelo Supermart beat RD Trucking, 92-87, in last week’s match-ups of the Your Basketball Athletic Club Basketball Tournament.

Despite missing the services of some of its key players, Joshbianc tamed Robinhood as Abraham Magay sizzled in the opening minutes with nine points while teammates Edwin Fregil and Marlon Caballero scored six points teach to lead the team to a 26-23 first quarter lead.

Gherson Sipe had 10 points and Monico Puentevella hit a pair of treys to keep Robinhood within striking distance, even as Joshbianc sustained its momentum in the second canto to register a 45-40 halftime advantage.

Top 3 teams eye title in
Supplier’s bowlfest

The top teams in three divisions of the Suppliers Friendship Cup Open Trio Bowling Championship will vie for the title tomorrow at the New Top’s Millennium Plaza Alley in Bacolod City.

Leading the cast in Class A with a twice-to-beat advantage is Mulo Car Aircon squad headed by Romulo “D’Gunner” Ramos, and with the same advantage in the non-rated and women’s categories are Alimon Steel/Candles and St. Joseph – La Salle Adventurer’s.

Challenging the top qualifiers in the three divisions are Silverado ASSFBI bowlers of Cecil Ramon Silverio who qualified for the up-the-ladder system after winning over NPBC/RJ Stars/TNT and ESD Electronz II in the knocked-out match.
