Pulupandan High School wins
4th Bago Fancy Drill contest

The Enriquetta Montilla de Esteban Memorial High School in Pulupandan, Negros Occidental, won the 4th Bago City Invitational Fancy Drill competition held at the city coliseum Monday during the Al Cinco de Noviembre activities, a press release from the city said.

EMEMHS received P20,000 and a trophy for winning the street and arena performance, followed by the Negros Occidental HS, that won P15,000 and additional P3,000 each as best in uniform, most disciplined, and best platoon leader special awards. The Victorias National High School won P10,000 as third place winner and the Lopez Jaena NHS of Murcia was awarded as the best marching unit and received P3,000, the press release also said.

Other schools that joined the competition were the Ramon Torres NHS of Bago City, Domingo Lacson NHS, Bacolod City NHS, Luisa Medel NHS and West Negros University, all of Bacolod City, and Don Simplicio Lizarez NHS of Talisay City, Negros Occidental. They received P5,000 and a plaque of appreciation each.

The board of judges was composed of Lt. Cols. Lloyd Cabacungan and Jose Demar Pauly, Majors Allan Margarata and Sonny Gonzales, and MSgt. Efinito Bernardino, all from the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City.

Bago City Mayor Ramon Torres said the competition, that is now on its fourth year, continues to draw crowd and participants every year, and thanked the judges, principals, coordinators and schools that had participated, the press release added.*

Cooperative officers
training set Nov. 7-16

A mandatory training for cooperative officers will be conducted by the Cooperative Development Authority, in cooperation with the City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office of Bacolod starting today and ending on Nov. 16, a press release from the city said.

CCLDO head Brenda Burdeus said the activities and topics are: Nov. 7–records management and financial transaction; Nov. 8 to 9–basic accounting for non-accountants; and Nov. 14 to 16–cooperative, entrepreneurial and business management, the press release also said.

The training is in line with the National Cooperative Month observance on October 15 to November 15, and the United Nations declaration of 2012 as International Year of Cooperatives, on the theme “Transformative Cooperative for People, Planet, Prosperity and Peace.”

Meanwhile, The CCLDO Bacolod was awarded as “Most Outstanding LGU Cooperative Development Office” for Region 6 by the PNoy Cooperative Development Authority, the press release added.*
