Cops cleared in death
of OFW at Justice Hall

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The Bacolod City Police Investigation and Detective Management Branch has exonerated from all liabilities the three police escorts of a former overseas Filipino worker who jumped from the third floor of the hall of justice last week.

Supt. Santiago Rapiz, head of the BCPO Special Operations Group, said Senior Police Officer 1 James Augustus Velasco, Police Officers 3 Genvie Gendran and Evanz Diaz of Police Station 7 did their duties and were not remiss in performing their jobs.

Rapiz said that the incident falls under the exempting circumstances, based on Article 12, Paragraph 4 of the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines.

Hector Tomaro Villarosa, 54, of Purok Cabugwason, Brgy Mansilingan, Bacolod City was arrested for the attempted slay of PO1 Antonio Jimeno, whom he had stabbed on the back with a butcher's knife Tuesday night.

Villarosa’s wife, Jasmin, said her husband worked as a mechanic in Saudi Arabia. They have three daughters and a son.

The result of the investigation will be forwarded to Police Regional Office-6 and may be upheld or revised, Rapiz said.

Villarosa was apprehended by Station 7 policemen on Tuesday night last week on the complaints of his mother-in-law, Teresita Bagiu, 56, who told the police that Villarosa, had choked her.

However, on their way to the police precinct, he stabbed Jimeno, who was sitting beside him in the police patrol vehicle.*APN
